Diana Torossian Emerging Songwriter Award

Terms & Conditions:

1. The 2025 Diana Torossian Emerging Songwriter Award (Award) is jointly organised by Class Action Records Pty Ltd (ABN 24 684 916 989) and DNA Songs Pty Ltd (ABN 58 155 395 734) (Organisers). The Award is a game of skill only. Chance plays no part in determining the winners.
   
   
2. Entry is open to any person that is a member of APRA and based in Australia. Employees (and their immediate families) of the Organisers are ineligible to enter. Only one entry is permitted per entrant.
   
   
3. Entries for the Award must be lodged between 9am (AEST) on 12 May 2025 and 5:30pm (AEST) on 15 June 2025. Late entries will not be accepted.
   
   
4. Entries must be lodged via the following online portal, administered by APRA AMCOS:

5. By lodging an entry for the Award, the entrant:
   • Agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
   • Warrants they are an APRA member.
   • Consents to APRA AMCOS providing their entries to the Organisers for the purposes of the Award.
   • Acknowledges that any dealings by APRA AMCOS with their entries will be in accordance with the APRA AMCOS Privacy Policy.
   • Warrants in respect of each song submitted for entry to the Award, that:
     • They hold at least a 25% APRA writer share.
     • If any song is co-written, they have their co-writers' consent to submit the song for the purposes of the Award.
     • They fully own and control all copyright and related rights to the song or have authority to grant these rights for the purposes of the Award.
     • If they are engaged under a publishing or recording agreement, they have obtained the necessary approval to submit the song for the purposes of the Award.
6. Entrants retain all copyright and all other rights controlled by them in songs entered in the Award.
   
   
7. Each entry will be judged on its merits by judges appointed by the Organisers. The decisions of the judges with respect to the Award are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
   
   
8. There will be two (2) winners, one of the first prize and the other of the second prize:
   
   
   1. First prize will consist of a cash amount of $5,000 and the following songwriting and industry mentoring sessions (valued at $20,000):
      
      
      • One hour mentoring sessions conducted via Zoom with each of:
        • Sammie Walsh (Beehive) - PR
        • Paul Harris (Warners) - A&R
        • Michael Parisi – Management
        • Lorrae McKenna (Golden Grants) - Grant Writing
        • Rachel Kelly (Unified) – Music Publishing
          
          
      • One day songwriting sessions (either in person or via Zoom) with each of:
        • DNA 
        • Michael Fatkin
        • Gary Pinto
        • Evie Irie
        • Andrew Lowden
          
          
   2. Second prize will consist of enrolment in the twelve-month career development course ‘Songwriter Success Masterplan’ at the Australian Songwriters Conference (valued at $6,500).

The Organisers will not cover any associated costs in connection with a winner’s enjoyment of the prize.

9. The winners will be notified by the Organisers on 24 July 2025.
   
   
10. All details of an entrant held by the Organisers will be held in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988. The entrant, herein, grants the Organisers all rights necessary for the Organisers to use their entry for the purposes of the Award. The Organisers will not, without the entrant’s consent, disclose or permit access to the entrant’s personal information other than for the purpose of this Award.
    
    
11. Except as provided by clauses 4 and 5, APRA AMCOS has no affiliation, association or involvement with the Award, which is entirely the responsibility of the Organisers.
    
    
12. The Organisers or any party acting under the Organisers’ direction in accordance with these terms and conditions will not be liable for any loss, damage, payment or expense of any kind or personal injury or other damage suffered or sustained as a result of an entrant or winner participating in the Award, except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
