About the 23% Mentorship Program

Program Objective

The 23% Mentorship program is for emerging and established women and gender diverse* APRA AMCOS members. Now in its 8th year, APRA AMCOS’ mentoring program aims to address gender disparity in the music industry by providing professional guidance and funding directly to successful applicants.

*Includes non-binary, trans, gender non-confirming, and other non-cis male gender expressions.

Application Closure

Applications close Sunday 3, May 2026 at 11:59PM AEST.

All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application by Monday, 8 June 2026.

What You Need to Know

  • 14 mentorships available in total, including 4 specifically for APRA AMCOS members based in the UK, Europe, or North America.
  • Each mentorship runs within a 6 month period (ideally July – December 2026, but we’re flexible based on availability).
  • Minimum of 6 sessions, including one compulsory face-to-face meeting and further meetings via phone, video, or email.
  • Each mentorship pairs an APRA AMCOS member with an experienced music industry professional.
  • Participants are matched based on career stage, goals, and priorities, rather than genre.
  • Successful applicants receive AU$3,000 to support work-related or travel expenses during the mentorship.

Eligibility Criteria

Please read the eligibility requirements below before starting your application.

The 23% Mentorship 2026 is open to:

  • Emerging and established women and gender diverse Australian APRA AMCOS members.
  • Current APRA AMCOS members based in Australia, with 4 mentorships available for members based in North America, Europe, or the UK.
  • Applicants from all music genres.
  • Applicants who are 18 years or older at Monday June 8, 2026.
  • Applicants who have applied previously for the 23% Mentorship.
  • Applicants who have previously participated in APRA AMCOS programs, mentorships, or received APRA AMCOS awards.

Creative Practice

Your engagement with music as an artform. This can be shown through originality, artistic process, and a willingness to experiment or innovate.

Proposal

Clarity of your goals and readiness for mentorship. Show what you want to achieve, how the mentorship will help, and what success looks like for you.

Potential Impact

How this mentorship could help you influence others through leadership, inclusivity, or inspiring your community and peers.

Commitment and Readiness

Your motivation, openness to learning, and preparedness to fully engage. Show passion for your creative development and why this mentorship is important for you right now.
